THE OFFICE OF THE REDEEMING SUFFERINGS OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

Hierodeacon German (Ryabtsev)

2 CD (colour booklet 12 pages)
2000 The Igor Matvienko Production Centre

You have most certainly heard that there is a divine service in the Russian Orthodox Church called the 12 Gospels. How could it be, — you would ask, — there are only four Gospels. However, what this means is that during this solemn and mournful Divine service 12 passages from the Gospels are read aloud, which remind us of the last hours of the earthly life of the Saviour. The antiphones sung between the readings convey to us the meaning of the deed of Christ the Saviour.

Listening to the CD you will feel yourself present in the church at this service which is celebrated only once a year – in the evening of Great Thursday.

The CD is a wonderful present first of all for those who cannot go to the church on this day.

Colour booklet (12 pages) in the Russian and English languages with an excellent article «Hymn to the Ancient Chant» written by the precentor of the choir Hierodeacon German (Ryabtsev) on church music, Znamenny chant and the work of Valaam Monastery.
